East and Central Handball Africa Club Championship women title holders Nairobi Water picked up two wins to keep their hopes of retaining the title alive.

The two-time regional champions picked a resounding 30-20 win over local rivals National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) in their opening match on Monday evening and went ahead to humble Sparklers HC 41-11 in their second fixture on Tuesday morning at Nyayo Stadium.

Nairobi Water coach Jack Sandan said he is impressed with the way things are going adding that the second win is a motivator.

“I am happy we are winning every time and we are in a good position to retain the trophy,” he said.

Despite losing, NCPB produced the top scorer of the match Naomi Musembi who scored five goals with team mate Betty Too scoring four.

Nairobi Water’s duo of Judy Augo and Magdaline Muthoni scored four each as top scorers for their side.
The champions started their second match of the championship on a high leading Sparklers HC 13-2 in the first quarter.

The four-time domestic champions dominated the match as they intensified attacks to extend the lead to 15-2 in the 18th minute.

Trailing 15-2, Sparklers HC sought their first technical time out but it did not help as they conceded two more goals.
