CAMEROON BEAT KENYA: Harambee Starlets go down to experienced West Africans

Harambee Starlets went down 0-1 against the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in an international friendly match at Kasarani Stadium yesterday.
A Christine Mannie penalty in the 65th minute gave the visitors the winner.
Starlets coach David Ouma's line up had most of his starters with only one notable change in Elizabeth Ambogo coming in for Irene Ogutu at the centre back.
Samatha Akinyi started between the posts with Ann Aluoch, Wendy Achieng, Elizabeth Ambogo and Dorcas Shikobe starting at the back line.
Caroline Anyango and Cheris Avilia played at the heart of midfield while Esse Akida and Neddy Atieno started on the wings with Christine Nafula and Mary Kinuthia leading the attack.

Custodian Vivian Akinyi started from the bench alongside Doris Anyango, Irene Ogutu, Jacky Ogol, Janet Moraa, Jackline Akoth and Vivian Corazone.
The Indomitable Lionesses coach Enow Ngachu paraded a strong side with professional players in the likes of Ejangue Siliki who plays in Denmark, Akaba Edoa and Yoh Carine who play in Turkey and Feudjoir Raissa who plays in Romania.
Harambee Starlets started the match on a high from the first whistle with Neddy Atieno missing a couple of clear chances.
In the third minute Atieno failed to find the back of the net with her shot going over the bar.
Cameroon replied immediately but Prudence Andiolo missed an opportunity to open the scores after her shot went wide.
In the 11th minute, Cameroon conceded a corner kick but nothing came out of it. Six minutes later, Cameroon’s Akaba Edoa missed a sitter following a defensive mistake.
Kenya was forced to play defensively for the better part of the match as the visitors pressed.
In the 29th minute, Esse Akida unleashed a shot from outside the goal area but it went wide.
Atieno forced a corner kick a minute later but nothing constructive came from it.
Akida was on it again with five minutes remaining to half time but she was ruled offside.
Cameroon came back stronger from the break and their efforts rewarded with a penalty from a mix up in the penalty area in the 65th minute. Cameroon captain Mannie stepped up to slot home what would prove to be the winning goal.
