Tusker FC defender Shafik Batambuze has really flourished under coach Paul Nkata and on Wednesday he proved the difference after his sublime free-kick steered the team to the semifinals of the GOtv Shield.

The 2-1 win over Posta Rangers ignited hopes of a fourth domestic cup win at the club, having won the last in 1993, and as they prepare to take on second tier side KCB in the semifinal today, the left-back hopes it can end well for them.

KCB has already seen off two Kenyan Premier League (KPL) sides, Thika United and Western Stima, and Bachu knows just how tough the match will be, but he is keen to play his role in ensuring Tusker do not suffer the same fate.

“We are grateful for the win and I am happy as always, to help my team. Now we are only hoping we can negotiate the remaining two matches well so we can smile at the end of the season,” he said.
