Rangers striker Kenny Miller is facing an assault charge after a bar brawl which erupted hours after his side's 5-1 defeat by bitter rivals Celtic.

The 36-year-old was arrested by police investigating a boozy bust-up at posh Lanarkshire nightspot Da Luciano following the match on September 10.

Miller's wife Laura, 27, is said to have suffered a scratched face and black eye when another woman attacked her during the clash.

The couple are believed to have been questioned by officers at their Hamilton home last week after officers examined CCTV footage from the bar and police last night confirmed that prosecutors are considering charges against the footballer.

Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A man of 36 was arrested and is the subject of a report to the procurator fiscal.”

Joey Barton grabbed the headlines after derby defeat when he was banned for three weeks from the club by manager Mark Warburton over a furious row with Andy Halliday.

Miller, who joined Rangers for his third spell at the club in 2014, spent a season at Parkhead a decade ago.
