Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has come out of retirement to make his debut in the Indian Futsal League.

The Welshman featured on the same stage as Brazilian great Ronaldinho, while former team-mate Paul Scholes is also set to play.

Giggs is playing after confirming his exit from Manchester United after rejecting a place on Jose Mourinho's new-look coaching staff.

He had the ambition to become the manager of the club but was beaten to the post by Mourinho, so he opted to leave in a bid to nurture his managerial career elsewhere.

But in the meantime, he is featuring in the new franchise, which also includes stars such as Deco and Hernan Crespo.

Legendary futsal star Falcao also signed up for the tournament.

Giggs is leading the Mumbai team for the event which is taking place in Chennai and Goa, while Scholes will be playing for Bangalore.

The tournament runs until July 24.

The organisation itself - Premier Futsal - is run by former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Luis Figo.

Futsal is an indoor, five-a-side version of football using smaller balls and hard pitches.
