Romelu Lukaku wants to move to Arsenal - but the £50million price tag makes him too expensive.

The Belgium and Everton front man is reportedly keen to leave Goodison Park this summer but Toffees bosses want a sizeable fee for his services.

Contact was reportedly made between the two clubs but , according to Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, there are doubts over the deal's progression.

He wrote on Twitter: "Arsenal aren't too optimistic after hearing they'd have to pay £50m for Lukaku to Everton.

"Informal contact was made yesterday between Arsenal and Everton but in my opinion the deal won't progress despite Lukaku wanting the move."

Meanwhile, Arsene Wenger will try and lure Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette to London with a secret meeting this week.

West Ham have already failed in a similar bid earlier this summer but the Gunners believe that they will be able to convince him to cross the Channel.

Wenger is believed to be set to meet with the 25-year-old's representatives in Frane later this week in a bid to agree personal terms.

Lacazette is valued at £45million by Lyon after scoring 72 goals in 172 games since 2010.

However, West Ham chiefs are reportedly convinced that Lacazette is going to be signing for Paris Saint-Germain, meaning Arsenal have a fight on their hands.
