Stanley Okumbi beefs up Harambee stars squad by Eight

Harambee Stars manager Stanley Okumbi has boosted the team’s squad ahead of international match with sudan and Tanzania.

The manager named Ian Otieno (Posta Rangers), Edwin Mukolwe (AFC Leoapards), Peter Nzuki (Nakumatt) Tirus Omondi (KCB), Amos Kigandi (Vihiga), Nicholas Kipkirui (Zoo Kericho), Eston Esie (Western Stima) and Joseph Owiti (Chemilil Sugar), to lift up the squad ahead of the match with Sudan which will take place on May 27 at Kasarani stadium.

The stars will also play Tanzania on May 29. Both matches are friendly ahead of the AFCON qualifiers 2016.

This decision was reached at, following speculation that players named in the first provisional squad may not turn up due to club engagements.

“As you are aware, there are players who are scheduled to play league matches for their clubs this coming Thursday, and with the Harambee Stars playing Sudan on Friday, we feel that it is impossible to have them in the team for the clash and that’s why we have decided to beef up the squad.

“We are however, certain that we will have all the players available for selection in our match against Tanzania on Sunday.”

In preparation

Okumbi had earlier named his 29 provisional squad in preparation for the coming AFCON qualifier against Congo on June 5.

Midfielders: Johanna Omolo (Royal Antwerp-Belgium), Joseph Mbugi (Posta Rangers), Antony Akumu (Zesco-Zambia), Victor Mugubi Wanyama (Southampton-England), Eric Johanna (Mathare United), Francis Kahata (Gor Mahia), Humphrey Mieno (Tusker), John Mark Makwata (Ulinzi), Clifford Miheso (AFC Leopards), Paul Were (AEL Kallonis-Greece), Ayub Timbe (Lierse SK-Belgium), Ali Abondo (Ajax Cape Town-SA), Ovella Ochieng (Kariobangi Sharks)
