Bandari FC Fears Relegation Bit-KPL

Bandari’s six-match winless streak has set alarm bells ringing at the coastal city club. FeverPitch understands crisis talks are in the offing following 2-0 defeat at home to Gor Mahia that has triggered anger directed at the playing unit and the technical bench.

“There is little excuse for this kind of performance especially going by the support the team gets from its sponsors Kenya Ports Authority,” said Joshua Masila, a die-hard supporter of the team.

Bandari has gone six matches without a win and are 10th on the log with 13 points from 11 outings. They have won only three matches — two at home and one away, drew and lost four times. They have scored nine goals and conceded 11.

The fans displeasure has not gone unnoticed as a member of the team’s management board, but who did not wish to be named suggested they will be sitting down with the technical bench for a thorough post-mortem of recent performances.

“We need to evaluate the team performance first by summoning the technical bench,” said the board member.

The proposed crisis meeting will see the technical bench put on the spot to explain why the team was not delivering despite having some of the country’s best players and support from its sponsors.

Bandari have not won since beating a limping Sofapaka 1-0 on March 13.

The Dockers won the FKF Cup last season and represented Kenya in the Confederation Cup where they went out 3-1 on aggregate. The coastal side had hoped that after some big-name signings, they would sail to glory.

Bernard Mangoli, Dan Sserenkuma, Felly Mulumba and Edwin Lavatsa arrived at the port city ready for a new challenge. However, all the camaraderie that surrounded their arrival has now petered out, instead a tide of anguish is setting in.
