Ex-Chelsea striker is understood to be looking to leave the Reds and return to the capital with Olympic Stadium-bound West Ham an intriguing possibility

Daniel Sturridge has put the capital’s Premier League clubs on red alert, writes Neil Moxley in the Sunday People.

The Liverpool striker Sturridge, who is considering his future at Anfield, wants to move back to London.

The former Chelsea forward, who has been plagued by injuries during his three years with the Anfield giants is understood to be calling time on his stay.

Despite assurances from boss Jurgen Klopp that he remains part of the club’s future, Sturridge is upset at suggestions that he is in some way to blame for the fact he is sidelined.

A catalogue of injuries has hampered his progress in the last two seasons.

Former team-mate Jamie Carragher has put the boot in by claiming the England international only plays when he is 100 per cent fit.

And ex-Reds’ legend Mark Lawrenson joined in on Saturday, saying that the 26-year-old can be out for three matches ‘with a twisted sock.’

At the right price, a fit Sturridge - who was an unused sub in the 2-2 draw with Sunderland - would be an asset to any club in the top-flight.

But with a salary approaching 150,000-a-week, even with the new television deal kicking in next season, there are unlikely to be too many offers on the table that are not appearance-related.

One interesting possibility could be a switch to West Ham.

Hammers’ owners David Sullivan and David Gold will want a marquee signing to accompany their move to the Olympic Stadium for next season.

The idea of teaming up Andy Carroll and Dimitri Payet with the Anfield ace would appeal, but there is no chance that either of the West Ham co-owners would sanction any deal that was not dependent on Sturridge being on the pitch.
