Manchester United shipped out £36million on Anthony Martial to avoid a transfer battle with some of Europe's big hitters, according to the Daily Mail.

Martial was also reportedly wanted by Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Chelsea and Manchester City, but United shelled out the mega money to avoid a stand-off.

The fee was seen as extortionate by Monaco chiefs, who could not refuse the big offer.
