Javier Hernandez has paid tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United chief scout Jim Lawlor but offered no gratitude to David Moyes or Louis van Gaal.

Hernandez, 27, completed a £7.1m move to Bayer Leverkusen earlier this week after five years with United.

A £6m signing from Chivas Guadalajara, the Mexican scored 59 goals in 157 Reds games, playing a decisive role in their 19th and 20th title triumphs, the Manchester Evening News reports.

However, he was marginalised by Moyes in 2013-14 and then farmed out on loan by his successor, Van Gaal, who laughed back in April when he was asked if Hernandez had a future at United.

"I want to thank Sir Alex Ferguson & Jim Lawlor, the club staff, all the players I played with," Hernandez wrote on Instagram.

"But specially I want to thank all the Manchester United fans in the UK and all around the world for the incredible support I've had this past 4 years and all the best wishes they have for me in my new chapter!! #MUFC #GGMU #2premierleagues #19&20 #60goals #85starts #thankyou"

Lawlor spent three weeks watching Hernandez in early 2010 before he advised Ferguson to sign the Mexico international.
