Manchester United to make a big bid for Gareth Bale

In slightly more ambitious United news, Gareth Bale is expected to be the subject of a final bid before the transfer window shuts, according to ESPN FC.

The Real Madrid winger is wanted, instead of Neymar, as Manchester United's big marquee summer signing.

United have a long-standing interest in Bale and the ongoing saga with David De Gea has led to interest in Bale being rekindled.

The Red Devils are unlikely to be able to prise the Welshman from the Bernabeu, but bosses are hoping to try and ambitious swoop, which could include De Gea exiting.
