Manchester United winger Angel Di Maria has arrived in the Qatari capital of Doha to compete his Paris Saint-Germain medical.

The Argentina winger is expected to complete a £44.3m transfer to the French champions within the coming days.

United will make an approximate £15m loss on the player after they paid a British record £59.7m fee to sign him from Real Madrid just 12 months ago.

The 27-year-old's Old Trafford career has looked to be over for some time now, with the final nail in the coffin coming when he failed to link up with the United squad for the club's pre-season tour of America.

That incident led to United manager Louis van Gaal astonishingly admitting he didn't know where the £180,000-a-week star was.

Di Maria began his Old Trafford career brightly, racking up three goals and four assists in his opening six matches.

However, his form suffered on the back of an attempted robbery at his Cheshire mansion on 31 January and he started just one match in the final two months of last season.

Barcelona star Pedro is expected to arrive at United as his replacement, although he is not expected to join before Barca's UEFA Super Cup clash with Sevilla on 11 August.
