No deal: Wenger says Karim Benzema is not on the way to the Emirates

Arsene Wenger has dismissed speculation linking Arsenal with Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema.

The Gunners are in the market for more firepower, with Benzema believed a long-time target for the north Londoners.

Reports in Spain on Sunday claimed Arsenal were willing to smash their £42.5million transfer record to bring him to the Emirates.

Benzema only recently signed a contract extension at the Bernabeu until 2019 but that hasn't stopped the Frenchman being linked with a move.

However, Wenger, speaking after Sunday's FA Community Shield success against Chelsea, played down reports that the former Lyon frontman could be coming through the door.
