Tottenham are poised to step up their interest in Javier Hernandez once Emmanuel Adebayor's exit is sealed.

Striker Adebayor, 31, is set to complete his season-long loan move to Aston Villa on Tuesday.

And prising long-term target Hernandez away from Manchester United will then be back on the agenda for Spurs.

Hernandez, 27, has returned to United after spending last season on loan at Real Madrid though his Old Trafford future remains uncertain.

Spurs are understood to be in the market for two strikers with £26m flop and Sevilla target Roberto Soldado also set to be offloaded along with Adebayor.

West Brom's England under-21 frontman Saido Berahino is another big target, but, as reported by Mirror Sport yesterday the two clubs are at odds over the fee.

Spurs are set to make an opening offer of £10m while West Brom want at least double.
