Robin van Persie is on the verge of completing his move away from Manchester United after reportedly agreeing terms with Fenerbahce.

It is believed that Van Persie's agent Kees Vos has been in Istanbul to complete the terms of the deal during this past week.

The Guardian report that United and Fenerbahce are now in discussions to agree a fee for the 31-year-old, after a four-year contract was confirmed.

Van Persie's wife is believed to have spent last week in Istanbul as she warms to the idea of living in Turkey - and the Dutchman said that he will let his family have the final say on where he moves to this summer.

Dirk Kuyt has convinced his fellow countryman that moving to Turkey is a positive move for his career, after he enjoyed a successful and trophy-laden spell at Fenerbahce.

Van Persie is one of the surprise disappointments of Louis van Gaal's reign at Old Trafford after being widely tipped to be named club captain when the new manager arrived last summer.

That role ultimately went to Wayne Rooney, despite Van Persie being Van Gaal's captain with the Holland team at the 2014 World Cup.

By the end of the season, Van Persie struggled to find a starting berth with United.

Even four-goal Radamel Falcao was picked in favour of Van Persie, despite his dismal performances in a red shirt.

Fenerbahce are also in talks with United over the proposed £4million move of Portuguese international Nani to the club. That deal is expected to be announced this coming week after a medical on Sunday.

A bit of United vs Arsenal rivalry will be continued in Turkey after the Gunners agreed the sale of Lukas Podolski to Istanbul side Galatasaray on Saturday.
