Manchester City are poised to enter the battle for Sergio Ramos.

The Real Madrid defender is at the centre of a bitter contract wrangle with his club with Manchester United trying to take advantage.

The Reds have already had two bids rejected by Real who have slapped a staggering £64million price tag on the 29-year-old.

United are themselves digging their heels in over their £35million valuation for keeper and Real target David De Gea.

Last week Pedro Riesco, who works with Ramos' brother and agent Rene, said: "With everything that has happened it will be very difficult for Sergio Ramos to stay at Madrid."

City are monitoring the situation with a view to taking advantage of the rising tensions between the two clubs.

Mirror Sport revealed earlier this month that City are ready to spend big this summer after backing boss Manuel Pellegrini, despite a trophyless season.

Chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak, speaking in his post-season address, promised the arrival of "high-quality players" capable of taking the club "to the next level".

City have already had two bids rejected for Liverpool's Raheem Sterling. They have also have an approach for Juventus and France midfielder Paul Pogba.

And they want Wolfsburg winger Kevin De Bruyne, rated at £30million.
