David De Gea has been pictured in Madrid as a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid seemingly edges closer.

The shot-stopper has been snapped alongside girlfriend Edurne Garcia, as the Manchester United man enjoyed an end-of-season break back in his home city.

But he could become Rafa Benitez's first signing when he inevitably takes over as Real Madrid boss later this summer, as Los Blancos search for a long-term replacement for Iker Casillas.

Casillas, has recently admitted that he wants De Gea to take over as the long-term No.1 at Madrid and has recommended Los Blancos sign him.

"If De Gea does come here, he'll be welcomed," Casillas told El Larguero on Cadena Ser.

"Competition is healthy - there is no clause in my contract which states that I have to be first choice.

"We'll have to compete for a place like we do with Spain. De Gea is a great bloke and a goalkeeper for the present and the future.

"He can handle pressure and the experience he has had at Manchester United will have served him well.

"Florentino once asked me if it were up to me, which keeper would I sign.

"I prefer Spanish keepers - Sergio Rico, Asenjo and De Gea. Right now, De Gea is the expert out of the three."
