KPL: Will Sofapaka delay Gor's title party?

Can Sofapaka delay Gor Mahia’s march to the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) title?
This will be the main question when the two clubs clash at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos, in a match that is potentially billed to be the decider of who emerges the 2014 KPL champion.
Should Gor Mahia win, they will have one hand on the KPL title and will need just a point in their remaining two matches against Muhoroni Youth and KRA to be crowned champions again.
The mood in Gor Mahia camp is filled with optimism and high expectation.
Coach Frank Nuttall is, however, a bit cautious and insists they must work hard as a unit to be assured of the title.
“Every match is important for us to win the title, we must work hard in every one of them. I know Sofapaka is a good side and we cannot afford to underrate them,” he said.
Nuttall is glad to have all his players fit for this match. At the back, Musa Mohammed who was suspended for Sunday’s match against Mathare United is eligible to take part. Israel Emuge is also available after recovering from a long term injury.
Though he has the best chance of emerging the top scorer, Gor Mahia striker Dan Sserunkuma insists his priority is to help the club retain the KPL title.
“It is great to be the leading scorer, but it means nothing if we do not win the title and therefore, this is my priority. I am not so much interested in emerging the top scorer than helping my club clinch the title,” he said.
After edging out AFC Leopards 2-0 to make it to the final of the GOtv shield, Sofapaka have the biggest motivation to delay Gor’s celebrations.
With a double in sight, it is unlikely Sofapaka will let Gor Mahia collect all three points in their home-ground.
The team has everything going for them in their quest for victory. It has one of the most lethal forwards in the league comprising of Anthony Ndolo, John Barasa and Enock Agwanda, who are expected to give Gor Mahia enough trouble.
In another match on Sunday, Chemelil Sugar will hope to maintain their quest for a top three finish when they host troubled AFC Leopards at Moi Stadium, Kisumu.
This is another fixture with the potential of trouble given the history between the two sides, but on the pitch, it can go either way, although it will be played without fans. Leopards will be under more pressure to win as they seek a top eight finish in the KPL.
