Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) women’s national league champions Kenya Prisons will miss the services of three key players as the league enters the seventh leg this weekend in Eldama Ravine.

The three are setter Jane Wacu and blocker Brackcides Agala, who both left for Volleyball Club Chamaliere in France for nine months and left attacker Mercy Moim who joined Liiga Ploki Club, Finland, for six months.

Prisons coach David Lung’aho says they are working to earn a slot in the play-offs first with the title in mind.

“It will not be difficult for us this weekend because we have good players who have already replaced those who left. Edith Wisa will replace Agala while Elisheba Chepkemboi and Salome Wanjala will take the places of Moim and Wacu,” said Lung’aho.

The defending champions will play three matches starting this weekend against Nairobi Water before taking on National Youth Talent Academy (NYTA) in their second match, then later

entertaining Mount Kenya University (MKU) Thika Campus in their final match.

Kenya Commercial Bank (KCB) will lock horns against Kenya Pipeline while Nairobi Water will battle it out against Oserian in another fixture.

Prisons will have to win their fixtures to make sure they earn a slot in the play-offs since the league has reached a crucial moment with only two legs remaining before the play-offs in November.

Currently, the champions are in the fifth place on nine points from six matches with arch-rivals Kenya Pipeline enjoying the top position on 15 points from a similar number of matches. KCB are second with 12 points followed by Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) also on 12 points due to inferior sets ratio of 1.36 from six matches. Nairobi Water are fourth with nine points from three matches.
