David Moyes will be sacked by Manchester United in the coming weeks and could even go before the end of the season

David Moyes will be sacked by Manchester United after a disastrous first season in charge at Old Trafford, according to The Mirror.

The United board have finally lost patience with Moyes and decided to cut their losses on Sir Alex Ferguson's beleaguered successor after less than a year in charge.

United's abject 2-0 defeat at Everton proved the final straw, with the Old Trafford hierarchy now convinced Moyes simply does not have what it takes to lead a club of their stature and ambition.

Moyes has lost the United dressing-room and, with the champions languishing in seventh spot and out of the Champions League for the first time in 19 years, the club have decided to act by dismissing him.

With up to £200million to be spent on strengthening their squad this summer, United chiefs are unwilling to trust Moyes with that money, with no guarantee of progress under him after this season's turmoil.

Ryan Giggs will be asked to lead United as caretaker boss for the remainder of the season if United decide to act immediately and give Moyes his marching orders before Saturday's game at home to Norwich.
