Nairobi: Ex-Standard scribe new AJAK chair

Chris Mbaisi (top), Deputy Sports Editor of The Star, was yesterday elected the new chairman of Sports Journalists Association of Kenya (SJAK). Mbaisi, who cut his teeth in sports journalism at The Standard, beat another ex-Standard reporter, James Waindi, 45-18 to ascend to the top post. Photojournalist James Magayi was elected vice chairman, Mike Okinyi of Citizen TV secretary general, Evelyne Watta the treasurer. Vereso Muwanga became the Organising Secretary. Torome Tirike (K24), Rebecca Gichana (The Standard) and Idriss Situma were elected unopposed as committee members. President of AIPS, Italian, Gianni Merlo congratulated the new officials.
