University of Nairobi College of Agriculture and Veterinary Sciences (UoN-CAVS) registered two wins as the Universities and Colleges Football League (UCFL) entered the seventh round over the weekend.
Cavs capitalised on home ground advantage to beat Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (Nibs Ruiru) 2-0 in their first match of the weekend.
Joseph Gacheru opened the score line after 28 minutes of play to give the home team a 1-0 lead by the breather.
The newcomers went to the half-time break with the 1-0 lead but luck was on their side when Joseph Thuku scored their second after an hour mark.

In their second match on Sunday at the same venue, Cavs recorded a 2-1 win over league debutants Mount Kenya University (MKU) to keep a clean record.
Gacheru was on the mark again, netting an opener just eight minutes into the match.
MKU’s Samuel Uche equalised after 20 minutes before Joel Ayonga made it 2-1 for the home team. Three minutes later, Joel Ayonga made matters 2-1 for the home team.
MKU, however, had won 2-0 against Technical University of Kenya, thanks to goals from Gabriel Anwaji and Uche.

In another encounter played at the same venue, newcomers Zetech Ruiru forced a two-all draw against United States International University (USIU) as 2012 champions, Zetech Nairobi played to a barren draw against Nibs (Nairobi Campus).
Andrew Agogo scored the opener in the eight-minute for USIU before his teammate Razak Adebayor made it 2-0.
Seven minutes to the breather, Zetech pulled one back through Brian Kaka for a 2-1 aggregate.
Usiu went to the breather with a 2-1 lead but Zetech squeezed a point when Arthur Chege equalised in the 54th minute.
Nairobi Aviation College defeated Utalii College 2-0 at the same venue. Nairobi Aviation College’s goals were scored by Joseph Ouma and Washington Okoyo.
In other matches played at Kabete Technical Institute Grounds, defending champions Kips recorded mixed results. Kips humbled USIU 2-0, thanks to Brian Odion and Victor Doldo’s strikes.
In their second match Kips forced a barren draw against new entrants Premier Institute who had earlier settled for a one-all draw against Kenya Institute of Management.
Premier’s Aaron Omar scored in the 28th minute while Stephen Obuya levelled for Kips. —rgichana@standardmedia.co.ke
