Braeburn shine at Nasa triple ‘A’ swimming Gala

Braeburn School Nairobi ruled the roost during the Nairobi Swimming Association triple ‘A’ age group swimming gala at Aga Khan High School.
Braeburn girls emerged top with 73 points, followed by Banda School on 70 points and Braeside who posted 33 points.
In the boys’ category Braeburn carried the day with 51 points followed by Makini School on 48 points. Aga Khan Academy Nairobi was third with 40 points.
The ‘A’ and double ‘A’ winners, International School of Kenya could not match the competition as they finished seventh and fifth in the girls’ and boys’ categories respectively.

Martha Opiyo of Braeside registered a win in the girls’ 14-15 years 200m individual medley after posting a time of 2:40.11. Chanttella Mukabi, also of Braeside, was second after timing 3:01.96, while Daniella Maina finished third in 3:02.58.
Nasimiyu Katundi, also of Braeside, beat her competition to emerge tops in the girls 10-11 1,500m freestyle after posting 20:16.2. She was followed by Virginia Okumu in 21:11.33 and Rita Ogao who timed 23:15.40.
The boys’ 10-11 years 1500m freestyle saw Nabil Saleh of Breaside carry the day in a time of 20:36.26. Heer Nagda of Oshwal Academy Nairobi was second after posting a time of 21:29.69, while Jamie Owuora, also of Braeside, was third in 21:31.25.
Nigel Nindo of the United States International University Swimming Dolphins was the victor in the boys 16 and over 50m backstroke after posting 30.87.
Ian Ngatia of St Marys School was second in a time of 34.91. Nindo also excelled in the boys’ 16 years and over 100m freestyle taking the top spot in 59:77.
Reuben Okutoyo of YMCA was second in a time of 1.04.53, while Daniel Nyamwaya was third after posting 1:05.07.
In the boys’ 14-15 years 200m individual medley, Matthew Boyer of the International School of Kenya took the top honours with a time of 2:27.82.
Tama Mule of Braeburn was second in a time of 2:47.69, while Thomas Tawk of Peponi School finished third after posting 2:49.73. —emburugu@standardmedia.co.ke
