Nigerian culinary sensation and content creator, Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly known as Hilda Baci, gracefully responded to being dethroned from her Guinness World Record (GWR) cooking marathon title.

Her remarkable achievement was surpassed by Alan Fisher from Ireland, who astonishingly cooked for 119 hours and 57 minutes in his Japanese restaurant.

The GWR committee duly recognized Fisher's extraordinary culinary marathon as he clinched the title of the longest-cooking chef in history.

It was even more astounding given that Alan took on both challenges consecutively, enduring over 160 hours of kitchen toil with just over a day's rest in between, as noted by the GWR Committee.

Hilda, who had made headlines back in May after an impressive cooking stint lasting 93 hours and 11 minutes, which broke the previous record of 87 hours and 45 minutes set by Indian chef Lata Tondon in 2019, took to her social media platform to respond to her record being surpassed.

She didn't explicitly mention whether she would attempt to regain the record, but she did express her admiration for holding such a prestigious title.

"I'm ecstatic to have held a record that's both prestigious and profound. I'll always be grateful for the love and support," Hilda expressed.

"Just as Chef Lata acknowledged the new record holder by updating her bio, I've done the same. Achieving such a record is no small feat, and I've experienced it firsthand. I deeply respect the hard work Alan put into achieving these heights. Sportsmanship is about recognizing progress, whether my bio includes the accolade or not. I remain a record holder in spirit and in history. Let's celebrate achievements and the spirit of competition," she concluded.

During her record-breaking culinary marathon, Hilda garnered widespread attention, with top artists and celebrities in Nigeria rallying behind her.
