Diamond laments over ungrateful signees

Bongo Flava star Diamond Platnumz took to social media to lament ungrateful individuals signed under big record labels.
According to the singer, artistes like Kidayo and Davido chose to focus solely on themselves and grow their music careers. Diamond added that they had done so much for themselves, whereas he decided to create a platform to reform talent and is, unfortunately, taking a hit.
In his explanation, many signees show no gratitude for their bosses' sacrifice to make them stars in their crafts.
"It is now that I have realized why people like Kidayo, Davido and others decided to focus on themselves and not waste energy, fame, money and time to help the artists who signed them. This industry has no gratitude!" he wrote.
Despite the disappointment, Diamond said he would continue to help as many youths as he could to enable them realize their talent and reform their lives.
"But don't be hurt, this is our country and it is our responsibility to ensure that we continue to lift the youth from the streets so that they can liberate themselves in life," he added.
Diamond's concern comes just a few weeks after singer Rayvanny announced his departure from Wasafi Classic Baby (WCB) to focus on his record label, Next Level Music.
"It has now been six years since we started working together, my team, my family WCB Wasafi, we have been driven by love and unity. I have learnt a lot and we have achieved a lot together. I was the first artiste to win a BET award, also the first artiste from east Africa to obtain 100,000,000 view plays on Boomplay. All these happened while we were together. My heartfelt gratitude to my family at Wasafi but most especially to my brother Diamond Platnumz, for giving me an opportunity for the world to see my talent," said Rayvanny.
However, the Tetema crooner was slapped with a Sh2.5million fine for going against his agreement with the famous record label and performing at Nandy's show.
According to reports, Rayvanny had not been cleared to perform at any concert until he entirely terminated his contract with Wasafi.
According to Diamond, most artistes take offence when the record label takes a small amount of their earnings, pushing them to leave.
"That is why artistes signed under Wasafi become big artistes. Some of them after we have done that, now want to take it from us by force. They want to be given the whole amount of money they get while working under Wasafi," he told DW Africa.
When the now Konde Music Worldwide CEO was leaving Wasafi, he explained that the record label was entitled to 60% of his earnings, which he was uncomfortable with. This forced him to terminate his contract prematurely, paying huge sums of money for it.
