An elderly woman has been presented to court for shoplifting.

Leah Njeri Njoroge was presented before Makadara law courts Principal magistrate Monicah Kivuti for stealing two jars of cocoa drinking chocolate valued at Sh1600 from Quick Mart supermarket.

Njoroge admitted the charge but was remanded in custody pending facts reading and sentencing.

According to the charge read out in court, Leah checked into the supermarket and did window shopping before settling the cocoa drinking chocolate powder.

According to the CCTV footage, she first picked one and stashed it under her breast brassiere and another one on her waist bag before attempting to leave.

She was, however, stopped at the exit and searched and was found with the two items hidden in her clothes. She could not explain why she had the unpaid for items.

Police were called in and she was taken to a police station where she was questioned before being taken to court. The matter shall be mentioned on May 3.
