St Peter’s Boys Mumias are the 2025 Federation of East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Associations (FEASSSA) rugby sevens champions.

The national champions led a Kenyan 1-2-3 clean podium sweep on Tuesday when the sevens version of rugby ended in a mud-soaked Bull Ring in Kakamega.

Played in a round robin, it’s fair to say that all the nine teams had equal opportunity to compete for the title, with eight matches played against each other.

St Peter’s Mumias led a star-packed Kenyan team, including former champions Koyonzo Secondary School, Bungoma High School, and Friends School Bwake from Rift Valley.

The Western region champs began the tournament with a tense 19-14 win over Bwake before following it with wins over London College from Uganda (31-0), Makerere College (40-12), Gititsi from Rwanda (47-0), and a draw against Bungoma (12-12).

On Monday, they stunned Koyonzo 12-7 to set up a thrilling final day, having tied with Bungoma on 19 points each, separated only by point difference.

On Tuesday, Mumias showed composure by seeing off St Mary’s Kisumu 31-0. Despite Bungoma thrashing Makerere 47-0, it was not enough to stop Mumias, who emerged top with 23 points and a superior point difference of 166 points.

Bungoma won silver with 23 points but an inferior point difference of 153 points. Bwake finished third to win bronze and complete the Kenyan sweep.
