School games: Rugby giants St Mary's Yala ready to prove why they are the best in Siaya

Record Siaya County rugby 15s champions St Mary's School Yala will be seeking to maintain their dominance when the 2025 Siaya County Secondary School Term One Games begin kick off on Wednesday afternoon.

Yala are out to retain their title as they lock horns with Nyagondo, Ambira, and Barding in Group A.

Head coach George Kerima emphasized that his team is leaving nothing to chance.

"We respect all our opponents because every team has been working hard to improve. Our focus is on executing our game plan effectively and taking one match at a time. Retaining the title will require discipline, teamwork, and determination," said Kerima.

Yala will be eying to get to the Nyanza Regional games set for next week in Migori County. St Joseph Rapogi Boys and Uriri will host the regional showpiece finals.

In Group B, Chianda, Bondo 1, Ugenya, Sawagongo will face off to determine who will proceed to the knock out stages.

At the same time, Yala will be seeking to defend their handball boys title also when they face Chianda, Kambare and Dirk Alison.

Rangala, Usenge, Akoko, Ugenya High School will face off in Group B.
