KCB storms into Enterprise Cup semifinals with commanding win over Catholic Monks

KCB RFC booked their spot in the Enterprise Cup semifinals in emphatic fashion, thrashing Catholic Monks 86-07 at the KCB Sports Club. The victory sets up a highly anticipated showdown against defending champions Kabras RFC.
Scrum-half Michael Wanjala got KCB off to a flying start with an early try in the fourth minute before captain Jacob Ojee crossed the whitewash for their second. Austin Sikutwa added the extras, giving the hosts a 12-00 advantage. Catholic Monks responded through Philip Walukana, who capitalized on a defensive lapse to score their lone try, successfully converted by Victor Rheins to cut the deficit to 12-07.
KCB quickly regained control, with Fidel Maina and Andy Cole Omollo adding their names to the scoresheet. Ojee bagged his second try before Cole Omollo completed his brace just before the break, securing a commanding 34-07 halftime lead. Sikutwa handled the kicking duties in the first half.
The second half saw KCB extend their dominance. Felix Ojow opened the scoring after the restart, followed by tries from Isaac Njoroge and Tyson Maina. Maina went on to complete a hat trick, while Ojee added two more to finish the match with an impressive four tries. Manasseh Oduor also got in on the action, further cementing KCB's superiority. Levy Amunga took over the conversions in the latter half of the match.
Speaking after the win, KCB RFC Head Coach Oliver Mang'eni commended his squad for their performance: "We played well today, and the players executed about 70% of what we've been working on, which is a promising sign."

Looking ahead, Mang'eni acknowledged the challenges that lie ahead: "March will be a tough month with Kenya Cup playoffs and crucial fixtures against the league's top teams. We must be well-prepared for the battles ahead."
Meanwhile, Kabras RFC secured their semifinal place with a 43-20 victory over Kenya Harlequins. The winner between KCB and Kabras will face either Nondies or Menengai Oilers, both of whom advanced to the semis via walkovers.
Before the Enterprise Cup semifinals on March 8, KCB will shift focus to the Kenya Cup, where they face Nondies next weekend at Ngong Racecourse. Mang'eni is anticipating a tough contest: "Nondies are a well-drilled team, and we expect a competitive match. However, we must stay focused and push for maximum points."
