Defending champions Kabras Sugar enjoy Kenya Cup sweetness

Defending champions Kabras Sugar extended their Kenya Cup dominance with a commanding 57-6 victory over Nakuru RFC at the Nakuru Athletic Club on Saturday.
The victory solidified their position at the top of the table with 30 points, having secured six bonus-point wins in as many matches this season.
Kabras also extended their unbeaten run to three consecutive seasons.
Nakuru started brightly, taking an early lead with a penalty. However, Kabras quickly responded through Gabriel Adero, who powered over from the back of the scrum for the opening try. Eric Cantona added the conversion to put the Sugar Millers ahead 7-3.
Despite Nakuru adding another penalty to stay in touch, Kabras' center Brian Mutua, making his first start of the season, took center stage with back-to-back tries. Mutua was returning after being away with the Kenya Sevens team.

Cantona's flawless conversions stretched the lead to 21-3. Prop Edward Mwaura joined the scoring spree before halftime, with Cantona's boot extending Kabras' lead to 28-3 at the break.
The second half saw Kabras pick up where they left off, with Patrick Lumumba scoring an unconverted try. Adero then completed his brace with another eighth-man pick, while Mutua finished off Jone Kubu's precise grabber kick. Cantona's reliability from the tee made it 47-6.
Lumumba muscled through for his second try of the day, putting the game well beyond Nakuru's reach. Speedster Griffin Chao sealed the emphatic win with his 14th try of the season, capping off a relentless display from the champions.
Kabras' dominance at the Nakuru Athletic Club and their flawless start to the 2024-2025 season underscore their intent to retain the title as they continue their unbeaten march through the Kenya Cup.
