The thrilling pace of the Kenya Cup rugby league is reaching its zenith as defending champions Kabras Sugar, sitting comfortably at the top of the table, brace themselves to clash with their formidable rivals, KCB Rugby today (3pm) at Kakamega Showgrounds.

This high-stakes encounter could be more dramatic, with Kabras Sugar seeking to maintain an unbeaten streak and having the honour of hosting the Kenya Cup final for a record fifth consecutive time by virtue of their outstanding performance in the regular season.

As the teams gear up for the final day of the regular season, the millers boast a flawless record of ten wins out of ten matches, underscoring their dominance in the league with a staggering 50 points and a positive points difference of 555.

This team is not just winning; they are dominating, with their latest 24-17 victory over Blak Blad cementing their position at the top.

KCB, currently in second place with 44 points behind Kabras.

Their impressive track record of nine wins and just one loss, with a point difference of 337, equally shows their prowess on the pitch.

However, their recent stumble, a 21-7 defeat against Menengai Oilers, could be a chink in their armor that Kabras is all too ready to exploit.

This head-to-head is more than just a game; it's a battle of titans, with Kabras having a psychological edge with their unbeaten run.

But in the game of rugby, as the adage goes, the ball is oval for a reason - it's unpredictable. The bankers, with their eyes on the prize, will undoubtedly put up a fierce fight to dethrone the champions.

"Kabras have been imperious throughout the season, and they always bring out the best in us. We need to work on our errors against the Oilers to ensure that we play well against the Kakamega side. We must tick all our boxes going into the weekend's clash," said KCB coach Curtis Olago.
