Three minutes later, Ombima was at it again after splitting the posts again from 30 yards.

Valerian Tendwa responded for the sugar men with a close range penalty to reduce the scores to 6-3 before Hillary Solano went over for the millers to lead 8-6 at the breather.

In the final half, Solano went over for his second unconverted try to lead 13-6 but the students will rise up again through Sam Maboni who touched down MMUST’s first try to trail 13-11 after missed conversion.

Speaking after the win, MMUST coach John Asila said he was proud of the boys for putting in the shift and winning the match.

“It’s a result of pure dedication and hard work in training. The boys played their hearts out and now I believe we are ready to start our journey back to the Kenya Cup,” said Asila who is preparing for the 2023-2024 KRU Championship season.
