Adhiambo to captain Lionesses ahead of Rugby Africa Women's 7s

Nakuru scrum half Grace Adhiambo Okulu will captain the national women's rugby sevens team, Kenya Lionesses, ahead of the upcoming Rugby Africa Women's 7s Tournament slated for October 14-15 in Tunis, Tunisia.

Lionesses head coach Dennis Mwanja unveiled his final squad for the tournament which also acts as a qualifier for the Paris 2024 Olympics.

The 12-member squad is led by Adhiambo and experienced Janet Okello. With a mix of experience and promising young talents, this squad aims to make a significant impact on the international stage.

Others are Sharon Auma, Stella Wafula, Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Diana Awino, Terry Ayesa, Naomi Amuguni, Maureen Muritu, Dorcas Nyachio and Christabel Lindo.

With a rigorous training regimen and international exposure, the Kenyan squad is poised to excel on the Tunisian soil. The Rugby Africa Women's 7s Tournament promises fierce competition, with other African rugby powerhouses aiming for the top spot.

The Rugby Africa Women's 7s Tournament will not only be a showcase of talent but also an opportunity for Kenya to compete at the highest level of international rugby.

After the Tunis assignment, Phoebe Akinyi, Judith Okumu, Grace Adhiambo, Terry Ayesa and Sharon Auma will join the fifteens team in Dubai for the WXV3 tournament that will be held on October 13-28.
