Shujaa will face Burkina Faso in the first cup quarterfinal at the Rugby Africa Sevens.

This is after Kevin ‘Bling’ Wambua’s charges finished top of Group B unbeaten and ahead of Zambia, Nigeria, and Namibia.

Kenya got off to a perfect start in their opening match against Nigeria which they won 34-10 as debutant Nygel Amaitsa scored three tires.

It was the same story for Shujaa in the second match which they won 50-0 against Namibia.

In the final group match, Asati scored two tries to inspire Kenya to another 38-12 win over Zambia.

Hosts Zimbabwe topped Group C and reached the cup quarters alongside defending champions Uganda while Zambia joined Kenya from Group B.

South Africa and Madagascar qualified for the cup quarters from Group A while Burkina Faso and Nigeria reached the last eight by virtue of being the best third-placed teams at the close of pool play.

Kenya will face off with either Zimbabwe or Madagascar if they see off Burkina Faso in the quarterfinals while the winner between South Africa and Nigeria will face of with the winner between Zambia and Uganda in the semis.

The overall winners of the tournament will earn direct qualification to Paris 2024 while the second and third placed teams will qualify for the final repechage tournament set for June next year where one more team will seal the final Olympics slot.

The top two teams (excluding South Africa) will qualify for the 2024 World Rugby Challenger Series which serves as a pathway to HSBC World Sevens Series qualification.
