KCB scrumhalf is the latest Kenya Sevens debutant to grab the headlines in Harare after scoring two tries to inspire Shujaa to a commanding 38-12 win over Zambia on Saturday evening in the ongoing Rugby Africa Sevens tournament in Zimbabwe.

Asati gave Shujaa the lead straight from kick-off after dummying his way to the try line as Kenya led 7-0 after Tony Omondi's conversion.

Vincent Onyala extended Kenya's lead to 12-0 before the Zambians cut the scores to 12-5 with an unconverted try.

Sensing a comeback, Asati again danced his way to the try line to give Shujaa a 19-5 lead. Nygel Amaitsa added a corner post try as Shujaa led 24-5 at the break.

In the final half, Patrick Odongo showed his trickery and pace to extend Kenya's lead to 31-5 before Beldad Ogeta sealed the win.

Kenya began the competition with a 34-10 win over Nigeria before drubbing Namibia 50-0 in their second match.

Kenya ends the day top of Group B awaiting to know their opponents in the quarterfinals set for Sunday.

The overall winners of the tournament will earn direct qualification to Paris 2024 while the second and third placed teams will qualify for the final repechage tournament set for June next year where one more team will seal the final Olympics slot.

The top two teams (excluding South Africa) will qualify for the 2024 World Rugby Challenger Series which serves as a pathway to HSBC World Sevens Series qualification.
