KCB RFC and Kabras Sugar both took a significant step towards securing the 2023 National Sevens Circuit title, following their commanding performance that saw them qualify for the quarter-finals of the penultimate leg, Kabeberi Sevens.

The bankers who are in Group D, alongside Moi University Arsonists, Menengai Oilers, and Catholic Monks, KCB impressed on the opening day of the final leg of the series on Saturday, thus solidifying their championship ambitions.

In a stunning display of rugby prowess, the bankers gave Moi University an unforgettable rugby lesson by thrashing the students 50-0. Their relentless attack and rock-solid defense left the opposition in awe and set the tone for the day.

The second clash against Catholic Monks only further highlighted KCB's supremacy on the field. With a resounding 35-7 win, they demonstrated their ability to adapt and conquer diverse opponents.

The squad showcased teamwork, precision, and individual brilliance that signaled their intent to claim the Kabeberi Sevens title.

What makes KCB's achievement even more impressive is that they secured their place in the quarter-finals with a game to spare, underlining their dominant position in Group D.

While KCB is savoring its moment in the spotlight, they are well aware of the fierce competition, particularly from Kabras Sugar, who leads the national standings with 92 points, just one point above KCB.

Kabras also qualified to the quarters after hitting Mwamba 21-10 and Daystar Falcons 22-7. They were held to a 17-17 draw by Masinde Muliro University.

The battle for the national sevens title promises to be intense, with both teams eyeing the championship.
