Shock as favorites KCB and Kabras Sugar bow out of Tisap Sevens

National Sevens Circuit leaders Kabras Sugar and their closest rivals KCB were knocked out of the Tisap Sevens after losing their quarterfinals matches played at Eldoret Sports Club on Sunday.

KCB was first out of the Main Cup after losing 10-5 to defending champions Menengai Oilers before Kabras Sugar followed suit after a thumping 19-5 defeat at the hands of Mwamba.

Oilers will now face Nondies in the semifinals as Mwamba face Strathmore Leos.

Leos thrashed Blak Blad 26-0 to glide into the last four as Nondies knocked out Kisumu RFC 10-7.

In fifth place semis, KCB will take on Kisumu as Kabras Sugar plays Blak Blad.

Masinde Muliro University will play Nakuru in the Challenge Trophy semis as Catholic Monks take on Kenya Harlequin.

On Saturday, Kabras began their day with a 26-7 win over Daystar Falcons before seeing off Kisumu RFC 22-7 to book quarters with a game to spare.

A narrow 12-5 win over archrivals Kenya Harlequin saw them finish top of their pool unbeaten with nine points.

On the other hand, KCB Rugby who are just two points off Kabras in the national standings also qualified for the last eight after an unbeaten run in Group A.

The bankers kicked off their pool matches with a 33-5 win over Homeboyz RFC before seeing off Mombasa RFC 28-0.

They ended their pool matches on a high after a 28-0 win over Kenyatta University's Blak Blad RFC.
