Nyanza region secondary school games heavyweights St Mary's Yala, were sent packing after losing in the rugby semifinals on Friday at Kisii School.

Kisii School upset rugby giants Yala 9-6 with Edwin Omari converting a last gasp penalty to send the hosts through to the finals.

"It was a tough match against Yala, a heavyweight and I am glad that we proved doubters wrong," said Lile Aston, Kisii School coach.

Kisii will play bullish defending champions Maseno School in the finals today. Maseno coach Steve Oluoch is upbeat they will retain their title.

"The title is ours to lose. We have come from far and despite our 3-0 semis win against Nyabondo, nobody should out rule us because we are the champions, "said Oluoch.

In basketball, Onjiko will take on Agoro Sare in the finals once again after humbling Usenge 134-22 as Agoro saw off Maseno School 60-30.

In the girls' category, Barchando will battle with defending champions Ototo. This will be a repeat of their preliminary encounter where the Siaya County champions emerged victorious.
