After Hong Kong, Kenya are still 13th with 30 points, 10 points off the safety (11th position currently occupied by Spain).

Kenya got off to a poor start in Hong Kong when they went down 29-5 to New Zealand as captain Nelson Oyoo got Shujaa's only points in the game with an unconverted try on Friday.

Billy Odhiambo and Alvin Otieno were on target for Kenya but the East Africans could not overpower the Irish who ended up winning 26-14.

Against South Africa, police officer Jeff Oluoch, Billy Odhiambo and captain Nelson Oyoo crossed over the white wash but Kenya still lost 26-17.

On Sunday, matters went from bad to worse after going down 26-12 to Samoa before closing the tour with a disappointing 19-10 defeat to Hong Kong.

New Zealand won the Hong Kong Sevens title after defeasting Olympic champions Fiji 24-17.
