Paarwater returns as Kabras's Katywa joins Kenya Simbas technical bench

Kenya Rugby Union on Thursday appointed Jerome Paarwater as the head coach of the national rugby fifteens team, Kenya Simbas.

Paarwater returns for his second stint with the Simbas after six years out.

The South African international tactician was Kenya's coach between 2013 and 2017.

Paarwater replaces Paul Odera, who resigned in November last year after Kenya Simbas' unsuccessful campaign at the 2023 Rugby World Cup Final Qualification tournament in France

Two-time Kenya Cup champion Carlos Katywa who led Kabras Sugar to a successful title defense last weekend when the sugar millers hammered KCB 19-9 in the finals played in Kakamega will deputise Paarwater.

Katywa, also from South Africa, has been instrumental in Kabras Sugar's unbeaten run in the Kenya Cup for the season ending 2022-2023 campaign.

He will be joined by Curtis Olago of KCB.

Other members of the Simbas management staff include Richard Ochieng, who is the strength and conditioning coach, and physiotherapist Steve Mankone. Jimmy Mnene will be the team manager.
