Kisumu Rugby and Nondescripts will be hoping to secure their ticket back to the Kenya Cup after a year out ahead of their KRU Championship semifinals set for Saturday in Nairobi.

Nondescripts, Daystar Falcons, Kisumu and South Coast Pirates will all be in action during the KRU Championship semifinals on Saturday in Nairobi.

Nondies, 17 time Kenya Cup champions and Daystar finished in the top two positions and earned the right to host their semifinal fixtures against South Coast Pirates and Kisumu.

Nondies had an almost perfect campaign, winning 10 of their 11 fixtures in the regular season and will be looking to make a swift return to a league that they once dominated.

To do this, they must overcome the challenge of the South Coast Pirates who they edged 22-17 in the regular season just over three weeks ago.

The two sides experienced losses on the final day of the season, Nondies falling to a 7-0 loss to Impala Saracens as the Pirates were 33-25 losers away to the Daystar Falcons.

Key players for Nondies will include captain Fidel Oloo, Alvin Marube and the industrious Brian Sinei while Pirates will look to the grit of former Kenya U20 international Idd Ganguma in the forwards and Charles Tendwa in the backs.

This match kicks off at the Ngong Road Racecourse at 3.00pm.

The Daystar Falcons story makes for fairy tale stuff. They are playing in their first season in the Championship and could be in the Kenya Cup next season if they overcome the challenge of former Kenya Cup campaigners Kisumu.

The Falcons came through the regular season with 9 wins and 2 defeats and they do have the psychological advantage over Kisumu, having defeated them 22-13 in the regular season.

The two sides were victorious in their final regular season fixtures, Daystar defeat South Coast Pirates 33-25 while Kisumu defeated Western Bulls 28-9.

This match kicks off at the Strathmore Sports Ground at 3.00pm.
