Jeason Musoga scored five tries as defending champions Kabras Sugar thrashed Nakuru Rugby Football Club 42-0 in a Kenya Cup match played at the ASK Nakuru Showgrounds on Saturday.

The win moved the sugar men second in the Kenya Cup standings with 24 points same as Menengai Oilers who lost their first game of the 2022-2023 season against Kenyatta University.

In the match, Musoga gave Kabras the lead off a scrum set piece that South African Ntabeni Dukisa converted before returning Kenya Simbas captain Dan Sikuta added another one almost immediately to take the scores to 14-0 after Dukisa's conversion.

Edwin Sifuna would score the third try for the victors that would not be converted for a 19-0 before heading to the break leading 22-0 after Dukisa amended his initial miss with a penalty.

In the final half, Musoga grabbed his second try almost immediately after the restart before adding his third, fourth and fifth tries to inspire Kabras to their 42-0 win against Nakuru.

Speaking after the match, Kabras coach Carlos Katywa said they have improved after their last mistakes where they missed a bonus point win in their last match last year.

"It's a good improvement considering we can now score tries in the second half. It has been a problem for us especially during our last game where MMUST denied us a bonus point win," said the South African tactician.

"Now we have to remain focused ahead of some upcoming tough matches since our goal is to play better week in week out."

Kabras are unbeaten in their last five matches where they have failed to pick bonus point once. They have a game in hand against Homeboyz.
