KCB hammered Mwamba 80-10 to solidify their top spot in the Kenya Cup standings with five matches left until the end of the 2022-2023 regular season.

Felix Ojow scored a hat trick as Mike Kimwele, Bob Muhati and Steve Wamai bagged a brace each in a 12-try game that is so far their biggest win of the season.

Kenya Simba's full-backs Darwin Mukidza and Martin Owila were also on the score sheet in the bankers' sixth consecutive bonus point victory.

KCB has so far defeated Nakuru (45-10), Homeboyz (29-10), Masinde Muliro University (41-0), Kenya Harlequin (38-0), Blak Blad (24-3), and now Mwamba 80-10.

In other matches, Kenyatta University's Blak Blad stunned Menengai Oilers 17-16 at KU Grounds.

Strathmore Leos saw off Catholic Monks 32-15 as Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology's poor run continued after losing 21-11 at home to Kenya Harlequin.

In Kakamega, MMUST assistant coach John Asila said they have to pick themselves up after losing their sixth straight match of the season in their defeat to Quins.

"It is not yet over for us. Many people are saying we are headed to the championship but all we need is just three wins to be safe. That has to come in our remaining matches," said Asila.

"Things have been not going well for us in terms of taking our opportunities and defensive work but I still trust the boys to pull up their socks. The goal now shifts to avoid being relegated to the KRU Championship."
