Kenya Sevens have been pooled in a tough pool as the 2022-2023 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series third leg head to South Africa on Friday.

Shujaa who collected five points last week at the Dubai Sevens are in Group C alongside defending champions New Zealand, Argentina and Spain.

The Damian McGrath led-team will be expected to raise their game further in South Africa as they chase their maiden pool win of the season after a challenging start to the campaign.

Kenya is yet to pick any win in the group stages in the already-played Hong Kong and Dubai Sevens legs.

However, last Saturday, Shujaa ecured their first win of the 2022-2023 campaign after beating Canada 17-7 in the ninth-place quarterfinal playoffs.

Hosts South Africa will headline Group A which also consists Fiji, Canada and France while Japan, Ireland, Samoa and Uruguay form Group B.

Group D will have a series of defending champions Australia, USA, Great Britain and Uganda.

Meanwhile, Australia's women and South Africa's men will head into this weekend's HSBC Cape Town Sevens full of confidence having maintained their recent excellent form in Dubai.

The Blitzboks have now won four Emirates Dubai 7s titles in a row after they recovered from an opening defeat to Great Britain at The Sevens Stadium to beat Kenya, Australia, Samoa, New Zealand and Ireland en route to glory.

It means that South Africa sit top of the men's HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series 2023 standings, level on points with Australia, ahead of their home tournament.
