Red-hot Oilers ready to improve on last season's Kenya Cup feat

Menengai Oilers chairman Simpson Osiemo is confident his side will improve on their last season's performance after kicking off the 2022-2023 Kenya Cup season on a winning note.
Oilers on Saturday maintained their perfect start to the season after seeing off Kenya Harlequin 24-10 in a round two match at the RFUEA Grounds in Nairobi.
The Nakuru-based outfit are currently top of the standings with 10 points and a massive 96 points after their season opening 72-6 win over newbies Catholic Monks two weeks ago.
Oilers finished second in last year's Kenya Cup losing the title to Kabras Sugar and Osiemo is rallying behind his team to do even better this season.
Speaking yesterday, Osiemo said the club is currently working on maintaining consistency both in tactics and results.

"Our club is anchored in the philosophy of believing in the future and nurturing young talents. We want to develop a culture of good sports where whether we lose or win, the goal of continual development is achieved both at a player level and club wise," said the chairman.
"Some of the areas we needed to improve after last season were defense, discipline and tactical adaptability, which are our core issues this year. So far, so good and now we have to just take one game at a time and pray for health and success."
Kenya Simbas new star John Okoth, Hillary Malweyi and Steve Munga (two tries) were on target for Oilers in their away win in Nairobi.
Meanwhile, Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology (MMUST) RFC assistant coach John Asila is upbeat the team will pick up the pace after a slow start to the season where they have lost two matches.
MMUST lost 23-21 to Strathmore University Leos last week before losing 41-0 to former champions KCB over the weekend.
"Tough luck for our boys this week. KCB was not going to be an easy side to beat and we have a lot of areas to improve on. Our set pieces were poor as well as ball movement, but there is always room for improvement. MMUST will rise again because the players have talent," said Asila.
