Rugby: Vihiga High School dominates Prescott National Cup

Vihiga High School are the 2022 Prescott Cup National Champions.
The Western Region rugby heavyweights thrashed Kisii School 29-8 to be crowned champions at the RFUEA Ground.
The two sides qualified for the finals after topping their respective pools unbeaten before seeing off their opponents in the semis.

Kisii would reach the final with an 18-0 whitewash of Jomo Kenyatta as Vihiga stopped Ofafa 24-5
Kisii emerged unscathed from Group A having registered victories over Ofafa Jericho ( 13-12), Maseno ( 8-6) and Utumishi ( 6-0). Second placed Of afa Jericho joined them in the semis.
Eventual winners Vihiga were top of Group B, also unbeaten, having defeated Jomo Kenyatta ( 22-7), Mangu ( 26-3) and Kangaru ( 34-0) with Jomo Kenyatta reaching the semis after a second-placed finish in the pool.
The tournament featured a total of ten teams, split into two pools of five, in a 15s tournament organized by KRU which brought together teams that won the regional competitions played in June this year.
Vihiga High School also dominated the Prescott Cup National Champions Team of the Tournament after claiming the title against Kisii High School.
Vihiga produced a total of 7 players in the team of the tournament that included front rows Israel Matthew and Moses Bulemi, back row Clyde Kamaila, half-backs Peter
Nguchi and Victor Wawire, winger Keero Owel as well as Beldad Kitaki all get an honorable mention.
Maseno lock, Thomas Opio, whose father Edward Opio was a Kenya Cup winner with KCB between 2005 and 2007 is also included in the team.
Others in the squad include Edwin Omari and Aggrey Omariba from losing finalists Kisii.
