Strathmore Leos, Oilers win Kenya Cup matches at Impala

Strathmore Leos on Saturday came from behind to thrash Mwamba 38-18 in an early Kenya Cup kick-off match played at Impala Grounds.

The victory saw Louise Kisia’s men to maintain their unbeaten run in the new2021-2022 Kenya Cup season.

Leos are now joint top of the standings with leaders Kabras Sugar on 10 points after the win.

Kenya Under-20 star Matoka Matoka landed a brace of tries for the students as fly-half Arnold Muita and flanker Barnabas Owuor scored a try each.

Substitute kicker Bruson Madigu slotted over three penalties and two conversions with Matoka adding a conversion and a penalty.

Captain Felix Otieno also landed a brace of tries with winger Sylvester Miheso scoring once but it was not enough as Mwamba succumbed to their second defeat of the campaign.

Mwamba had lost to Menengai Oilers 25-19 last weekend. 

AT the same grounds, visiting Menengai Oilers edged out Impala Saracens 28-10at their backyard.

Crispin Shitundo bagged a brace as hooker Hilary Malweyi and prop Emmanuel Mulindo added two more. Timothy Omela curled over two penalties and one conversion to seal the win.

Paul Mutsami scored Impala's only try that was converted by Quinton Ongo, who added a penalty in the defeat.

Meanwhile, the match pitting defending champions KCB and Blak Blad was postponed due to technical hitches at the Kenyatta University grounds.
