Kenya Rugby Union (KRU) on Monday once again announced changes to the 2021 Kenya Cup season fixture after Mwamba, Impala, and Nondies made a return to the local league.

The three teams had said they were unable to adhere to Covid-19 protocols hence missing out on the first two rounds of matches. Homeboyz on the other hand will miss the whole season.

Their return will see the format adapted this season of home-and-away changed to a one-off meeting between teams before paving way for the semi-finals and final.

“After missing out on the first two rounds of the 2021 Kenya Cup, a trio of former champions led by Nondescripts, Impala Saracens and Mwamba join the competition from match day three,” reads a statement by Kenya Cup.

“A fourth team, Homeboyz, have opted out of this season’s competition which will now be played as a one-off round-robin competition, with the top four teams qualifying for the semi-final playoffs on 29 May with the final set for 5 June,” the statement further reads.

Mwamba are expected to start their action this weekend where they play Blak Blad.  Impala will play against their neighbors Kenya Harlequins.

Nakuru and Oilers will battle off in the Nakuru Derby in the third match slated for this weekend.  Match day four will see 10 sides get to action with Nakuru set to rest.
