Edward Rombo appointed Kenya Rugby League Head Coach

The recently formed Kenya Rugby League Federation (KRLF) has appointed former International Edward Rombo as the Kenya Rugby League Head Coach.

In a statement released on Monday, May 18, KRLF confirmed Rombo will lead the League National team Program in collaboration with Giving Rugby Foundation to provide technical assistance to the Federation’s Development side – Skills and Defense.

The 53-year-old, who has over 30 years playing and coaching experience in the Rugby Union and Rugby League is also an Internationally Accredited Rugby Coach.

He is the first-ever Kenyan to play in the professional rugby league – signing for Leeds RLFC in the United Kingdom.

Rombo appreciated the appointment and expressed a desire to play part in having a strong national team as well as the sport is steady in Kenya.

“I’m happy to play my part in ensuring the sport takes root in Kenya and have a strong National team hoping to take part in the future World Cup,” Rombo said.
